We have your new summer cocktail right here!
Empress 1908 Gin, if you don't have it, go get it! I can't believe I am even saying this because typically I do not even like gin. But I LOVE this gin! To me, it tastes light and fresh without the over powering Juniper slap to the face of some other gins.
Empress 1908 Gin gets is beautiful blue hue from the infusion of Butterfly Pea Blossoms post distillation. Butterfly Pea Blossoms are a lovely blue edible flower that is commonly used as a natural dye for food or textiles.
Recipe:
-
Fill a rocks glass with ice.
-
Pour in a shot (or two) of Empress 1908 Gin.
-
Shake in a couple dashes of grapefruit bitters - we use Fee Brothers Grapefruit Bitters.
-
Squeeze in the juice of a lemon wedge.
-
Top with tonic water - we prefer Fever-Tree Premium Natural Tonic because it tastes great and the glass bottles are nice to look at.
-
Garnish with edible flowers if you have any on hand - Pansy, Johnny Jump-ups, Bachelor Buttons, Yellow Pea Flower (not to be confused with Sweet Pea Flower - this is TOXIC)
And that's it! But the fun is in the fact that this isn't your typical G & T - this one is magic!
When you squeeze in the lemon juice, the gin magically turns the most gorgeous lavender color!
So there you have it - it's simple, refreshing, fancy and fun! Just add your Quarantine Family (21+) and you're all set-up for a wonderful summer afternoon.
Cheers!
