Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Hi everyone! We wanted to send out a quick recipe for our favorite margaritas in honor of the occasion. We are making Hibiscus Margaritas because we love the bright color and tartness that hibiscus flowers bring! You can balance out the tartness of hibiscus by making you own simple syrup using our recipe below.

Hibiscus Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 C Sugar

  • 1.5 C Water

  • 2 Tbs dried hibiscus flowers or the equivalent of hibiscus tea bags

Instructions:

  1. Bring the water to a low boil and steep the hibiscus flowers or tea bags for 5-7 minutes. You may steep for a bit longer if you desire a stronger flavor and color, but you want to be sure not to boil off too much of the water.

  2. Strain out the hibiscus flowers or tea bags and return the hibiscus water back to the pan and bring back to a low boil.

  3. Add the sugar and let simmer for a couple minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  4. Taste for flavor and sweetness and adjust according to your taste.

  5. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool completely to room temperature.
